The "Championship of the World" was everything to us.  We played an adjacent neighborhood, every year, to determine what neighborhood football team would lay claim to the championship. 

It was the late sixties, and most of the folk living in our neighborhood were either single mothers receiving some type of government assistance or households where both parents worked long and hard hours washing dishes at greasy diners or sweeping floors at the local steel mill.  Folk working in the good paying jobs at the mill and elsewhere lived in the more affluent neighborhood next to ours.  The neighborhood we played against in the championship.
